I'm Not Dead ... Blog, Sprite Update

This project is still in development.  I've been very busy of the last few years but I've never stopped working on this project but it has been a while since I had something to update.  mostly because I've been redesigning a lot of it yet again.  This Project was how I really learned how to do sprite art and animation and I'm improving after I finish a new character sheet making me want to change things and update it.  What I'm saying is I've Change the art again:

Character Update over the years,  Jon has gotten smaller and smaller,  but I like the Animation more now, but I might change the way his arms moves over time

I'll be updating more of the sprite updates and changes soon.

Just a concept at the moment.  More to come

Level 3

While Planing the Assets for the Levels and doing some Concept art I realised that the 3rd level for the game will be the easiest to complete as it's mainly a highway chase.  So I Started, and Finished it. Now Back to the first level.

UPDATE 03/02/15: this is something that will greatly change for the final version but it's nice to have something more final than the other levels :p

Mecha Update

I've Done the basic sprites for the G2 "Cheetah" and the G3 "Shark".
This is the G2 Cheetah, Designed to be the Fastest of the three. Also has the most amount of frames, as its designed to be a close range combat type it has a lot of flashy attacks.

This is the G3 Shark, the slow power type. actually has the leased amount of frames of the three, and most of it is going to be slight movement in the gun.

This is one of all of the Gun-Machines together with Jon's sprite, so you can see the sizes of each.

There coming along very well I Now need to make a start of the GX machines and the transformations of each ... which I've wanted to do for sometime now. Also I finished the basic of Jon's Sheets, now I'm adding more frames and am going over the combat system for the game. I'm going to need to do a bit more work... funny cause it still could of been finished ages ago.

G1 Activate!

G1 - Falcon - Flight test And A Little shot of it in flight

As well these I was also able to put together a little screen shot of the game. the background is far from finished, but it was done just to give an Idea:

More updates ... soon, and who know's, it might even be Jon's finished sprite sheet.

Sprite Update

Completed the basic Sprite for one of the Gun-Machines, the G1 - Falcon:

another one I'm a Little proud of, Still Haven't got around to Finishing Jon's Sprite, but I have decided to work on others at the same time (Kind of dropped the idea of finishing one before moving on).

Currently working on: Enemy Sprite Sheet, G1 Falcon Sheet (which is coming along nicely), Jon's Sheet and parts of level design for the first level.
I've Change somethings to Jon's sheet, based on the type of game this is I felt it was kind of silly to have realistic looking effects ... all part of the learning process. I'll finish his sheet soon.

Sprite Update

I've Designed the basic enemy, This is the little guy Sprite:

Although I think it needs a little bit of work here and there before I Start actually Animating it.

I would also like to finish Jon before moving on to anything else properly...
Speaking of which, he's almost done ... (I've been saying that for so long now)

Brave Breaker Gungo - Change GX

AKA "Project Mecha Slug" (or just Change GX)

This Project was created for me to get a feel for sprite art. I've always been interested in sprite animation and have tried basic design for simpler ideas, but this will be the first mayor project I do using what I have learned in hopes to further my knowledge in sprite art and make a really cool game doing so ^-^

Change GX is a Metal Slug inspired Streets of Rage Game, designed for anything with 3 buttons, a D-pad and a screen. A Classic Style Arcade Action game based on the town of Middlesbrough. Players will chose from one of three characters (all based on real people), each character will have there own style of combat being, Long Ranged, Close Ranged and Mid-Ranged. each character has there own strength and weaknesses but they will all control the same as each other.
as well as this player will also be able to find one of three Vehicles throughout the levels known as the Gun-Machines (G-Machines), each with there own abilities and special attacks, but also the ability to merge into one of three different super robot The GX1, GX2 and the GX3.

At the moment I'm slowly working my way though the Sprite Art of one Character Jon Clarke.

BBGCGX - Character Portraite 01
(Art has yet to be fully finished) He's Designed to be a closed Ranged Character, with a lot of combo possiblities.

At the moment this is what I have for the Sprite sheet, it almost done ...
BBGCGX-Character Sheet 01 - Jon 1

This is all the Animations in Actions:
Jon Idel His Idle Animation

Jon walking His Walk Animation

Jump His Jump Animation

Photobucket His basic Attack Animation

Blitz Attack His Blitz Attack Animation. this happens if the player stand in one spot and Continuously presses
the attack button

Back Attack His Back Attack Animation. back attack is designed to be a quick jab behind him, done by pressing the oppsit direction from where your facing and Attack, this has to be done quickly or he will just turn around.

Forwards Attack His forward Attack Animation is just a little hurricane Kick, but it keeps going until the player stops or the character is hit.

Jump Attack His Air Attack Animation, is designed to be a very fast kick, so it should be possible to keep kicking the opponents before landing on the ground

Shoruyken!! Up Attack His Up attack Animation, A rising uppercut (shoryuken!) great for attack above enemies or launching enemies into the air. This can be chained with his Air Attack.

Photobucket His Down Attack Animation. For getting of the enemies below you fast.

Some Special Effects need to be added to some of the sprites and a few are still in testing (need to add or remove frames here and there), but all in all it coming along nicely.

The Second Character is in Production, Drew O'Malley, Mid Ranged Character who specialises in Fire.
Drew O'Malley
I wasn't going to start his Sheet until I first finished Jon's, but I just couldn't help my self :3

Finally this is a rough unfinished piece of concept art for one of the Super Robots you get to use in the game.
GX1
The Colours are not final and the design has changed slightly since I did this piece, but this is to give an idea of just what you'll get. More information on the G-Machines to come in later post.

I will continue to update on advancements made with this project as time goes on, who knows I might end up with a full game.
