About This Project

This is a project that is quite close to me, I've been working on it on and off for many years now it's something that I've always wanted to play and hope others will enjoy it too.  The original idea for this game was "Streets of Rage" meets “Metal Slug”, Both an arcade action game released in the mid 90’s, with Japanese super robots inspired by a manga (Japanese Comic) and TV series aired in the 1970s, “Getter Robo”, all of which is set in the town in which I studied and the characters are based on people I know.

The result; A side scrolling platform beat 'em up with the option of jumping in and out of a vehicle with the ability to combine with over playable vehicles into a super robot (AKA “mecha”) with extreme power as the game goes on.  This is designed to be a simple pick up and play arcade action game with the mobile gaming market in mind (but fully possible on anything else), with optional multiplayer, score objectives, time attack modes, secret bosses and extra levels not part of the game’s main story.

Players will choose from a selection of 6 playable characters, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and attacks, however the way all the characters control will be the same.  Players will also be able to choose a support character that will aid the player throughout the game, unleashing powerful attacks and supporting them with a mighty Gun Machine.

The Gun Machines (G-Machine #) are the 3 super vehicles that appear throughout the levels which players have the option of jumping in for extra firepower and the ability to combine it with each other to make a Mighty Gun-X Machine (GX#).

The game will have a very simple control scheme that can easily be customised to any system, being that the game only has and needs one attack button and one jump button, while the super and guard buttons can be manipulated into the system as needs be.  The simple control system was designed so that anyone can play with very little skill, but masters will know what to do when and what would be best.

With this project I hope to create a fun action packed experience that players will enjoy and remember, maybe even expanding on the game and its overarching story, creating a series and experiences that may be remembered for many years to come
